– Awful painting! Why “still life”?

– Too bad you don’t like it. Then again, I don’t really care. The painting works with negative space. The defining lines of the still life elements have been elevated to a prominence that let the still life recede somewhat. What is more prominent: the lines or the objects surrounded by them? Or: Are the lines the actual subject matter while the objects have been reduced to mere infills? – If anybody gives thought to this, the painting is probably a success.
