Still Life 10

Oil on Canvas | 11″ x 14″

Really good painting this, I think.

The relatively complex reality of the still life set-up was seemingly broken up into shapes and lines, and then inserted, as it were, into an abstract pattern of simplified and mostly orthogonal shapes and lines.

Also notice the careful color balance with the yellow spot on top, the triangle on the left, and the bright lines on the right, forming a triangle of balanced colors.

Finally, despite the geometric rigidity, there is an element of perspective here, achieved by the greenish cloth or table top as well as by some overlap of elements.

Wondering what the guy was thinking when he made this.
