artist statement

Goal: I want to use the inherent qualities of line, color, form, and composition to create images of impact and beauty in figurative or abstract form.

Struggles: My struggles are those of an artist: how to perceive, interpret, and convey. Or: How to ‘see’ and help people see where otherwise they might not be able to.

Subject Matters: Subject matter can become anything that is part of my visual experience, either physically or mentally. Sources may include nature, art, poetry, or our built environment.

Influences: My work results from a synergy between my daily visual experiences and my artistic personality. It is therefore influenced by what I see and by who I am.

Materials: I work with oil-based inks and paints because they are visually powerful, forgiving, and durable. I print with wood or linoleum blocks, and I paint on canvas or cardboard. My processes are entirely manual and traditional.

Works: I aim for strong and compact visual statements. My formats tend to be small; print editions are limited.
