The basic idea for this painting is ‘false’ perspective.

There are three elements: road, wall, and house (and a tree on the right). The composition is driven by vanishing points not being located on a single horizon line (which would be correct) but each element has its own horizon line.

Each element has its ‘correct’ perspective in that the convergence lines meet in their respective vanishing points. The colors are largely assigned to their respective element e.g. orange tones for the road, yellow for the wall, etc.

Due to the ‘false’ vanishing point locations though the color areas intersect each other but in a way that keeps the elements vaguely readable. The house has two vanishing points, one for the horizontals (to the right) and one for the verticals (below). A small area of sky, a cloud, some bushes and rocks complete the scene.

The result is an abstract pattern of shapes that dissolves the elements (= white house with red roof behind a yellow wall at an empty road) but is yet strictly organized.
