Hi J.
How are you. Please send me something (anything!) about your current work. The drypoints you did recently were great and so was the pastel sketch of the pond in the park. (Update your website, dude!)
I have been thinking about a still life idea. Flower vase and some fruits on a table.
The composition would be simple: the vase is off center, the viewer is looking downward on the table, as if from a sitting position. The fruits are on a plate or in a basket on the table (maybe I put them directly on the cloth – don’t know yet). The fruits and some curtain or background screen balance the vase visually.
I want the background to be dark to make the white flowers stand-out. Besides there will be little dark color, just a few outlines, the flower stems (it will be a glass vase).
I am thinking of 8 to 10 colors, maybe 3 or 4 blocks. It’s going to take a while: making the blocks and printing in stages, since each stage should be reasonably dry.
I’ll send you a pic once its done. (I may try this one as a drypoint, too.)
Anyway, hope to hear from you. Send me some stuff.
-M.
